Interview with Dido Fontana






q)What is your earliest art-related memory?


a)I think Venice Biennal, 'cause my father. I was 4 or 6 y.o. : boring as hell. Some images returned to me several years later.


q) Who has had the greatest influence on your work?


a)everything I see: love and passion, people, emotions, colors, sex, wine, music ... things like that.


q) What are the main tools of your craft?


a)I try to be simple as possible, I think: more tech= less message. The strength of an image don't depend from cool equipment. I use 35mm, polaroid and digital. I don't like the hi-fi approach.


q) Is a formal education important?


a)Yes, get knowledge about a particular field allows you to completely avoid all the rules then. The teaching, the rules, the code and what else ... if you know, you can fuck't.


q) What is the biggest misconception about art?


a)I dont'know


q) Which is more important in art - concept or execution?


a)I dont'know


q) What theme or aesthetic are you most drawn too?


a)sex


q) What is your favorite piece of art in your home?


a)an ancient crucifix of '700, some old father's print, one Tasca's sculpture.


q) If you could collaborate with anyone, living or dead, who would it be?


a)Russ Mayer, Britney Spears and some models alive.

a)I don't know

a)squatting 245Kg for 4 reps
